When baking a dessert, it is important to make sure you follow the recipe fully - without leaving anything out, nor exchanging the ingredients. John continues to dispel the actions of the spirit of Antichrist. After leaving the church and trying to deceive, the Antichrist tries to remove Jesus Christ from the equation (or in this case, from the recipe.)
